Built in 1965, Tangent Elementary School is proudly educating its second generation of children. Located on an 8 acre campus amid fertile farm fields, Tangent Elementary serves a large area surrounding the community for which the school is named.

Our School Is Proud To Offer:

A Unique Schedule To Serve All Students
Tangent Elementary's students are known and understood by all staff members. The school schedule allows a weekly block of time for staff members to collaborate, examine student progress, and plan the best course of action for each student.

Character Education Program
Tangent Elementary students follow the same three rules in all settings at our school: be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. Students who follow these rules are invited to participate in school wide rewards throughout the year.

Wildlife Habitat
An area outside our school has been redesigned by a dedicated team of volunteers. This area will become a butterfly and hummingbird habitat. The purpose of this project is to bring science and nature together for the benefit of our students.

Annual Events
We bring our school community together each year with the following events: open house, senior holiday dinner, music programs, carnival, fitness fair, drama trip to Linn-Benton Community College, science fair, and an end-of-the-year swimming trip.

Volunteers
Community members and parents help in classrooms, prepare materials for teachers and work one-on one with students. Each Friday, volunteers bake cookies for students to purchase, with proceeds going to PTC.

Parent Teacher Club
The PTC works tirelessly to raise funds to support student learning and activities. The club has been instrumental in raising funds for needed school items such as computers and projectors, library books, math manipulatives and musical instruments. They also sponsor our annual events.

Site Council
Parents work with teachers, support staff and the principal to support our school improvement plan and other building priorities. Our focuses for improvement currently include increasing and maintaining progress in reading, writing, math and science.
