GRANDPARENT'S LUNCH:Thanks to the Parent Club and the Takena staff and students for making this Thanksgiving luncheon such a wonderful event. Is there anything more special than sharing time with family and friends? We are just so grateful that our “honored” guests chose to spend some time at Takena Elementary School with us. I hope our grandparents, some of whom came from out of state, had a fantastic time with their grandchildren.
ADOPT-A-FAMILY (Project Winter Joy): Donations are due no later than December 15th and we’ll be organizing the items and wrapping gifts on the evening of December 17th at 6:30. If you would like more information regarding this wonderful event or would like to help wrap, please call the school office. The adopted families will experience a wonderful Christmas because the students and families of the Takena community are so caring and giving. Thanks for helping make this annual event such a wonderful tradition. An informational flyer was sent home with your child in last weeks announcements. Specified classes have been assigned to each family (details listed in flyer on back of announcements). Please bring items to your classroom until December 15th.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR SCHEDULE, Dec. 2-5, 2008:
Tuesday - 11:00-3:30
Wednesday - 11:00-3:30
Thursday - 11:00-3:30 & 5:30-7:30 (Family Night)
Friday - 11:00-3:30
Don’t forget Thursday night (Dec. 4th) is “Family Night at the Book Fair.” Please join us for the fun! Drawings, contests, and entertainment provided. See attached flyer for more details about Family Night at the Book Fair.
REPORT CARDS: Students will bring report cards home on Wednesday, December 12th. Please remind your child to share them with you. If you have any questions, please contact the office and arrangement a meeting with your child's teacher. It is a new report card, a standards based version, which is an adjustment from previous years. Please refer to the parent letter sent home with your child’s report card on December 12th to assist you in understanding this new report card.

SCHOOL CLOSURE, EMERGENCY INFORMATION NETWORK:The school district now subscribes to “FlashAlert” which takes the same emergency information relayed to television, radio, and newspaper, and e-mails that information to interested persons. As parents you may wish to enroll in this program. There is no cost to the families and “FlashAlert” promises not to give out email addresses to other organizations. Parents wishing to enroll in the e-mail message service need to enroll directly with “FlashAlert”. Simply go to “www.flashalert.net” and click on “subscribe”. You may then go to the website and click on “view news” to read announcements posted on the site.
