Summer Bond Work Continues
The School Board, at its August 25 meeting, heard a report from bond construction project manager Ed Fitz-Patrick. Work on new Timber Ridge School continues on schedule. Masonry at the classroom wings and gym continues as does framing in the classroom wings and the media center. The second floor is on in the two story section. The sewer installation is complete and the waterline will be completed by September 12.
The three-classroom addition at North Albany Middle School and the cafeteria extension to Periwinkle Elementary School will be ready in the fall. Central Elementary School received seismic upgrades and is receiving additional bracing over the doors on the southern entrance. Other schools received new roofs, new boilers, electrical upgrades, and replacement of fire alarms systems. Seven underground fuel oil storage tanks were removed and renovations to the library and locker rooms at West Albany High School continue. Construction of a four-classroom technology center for South Albany High School started on August 4 and construction of the bus loop at Calapooia Middle School started on the same day.
