Fairmount Elementary School has reopened this fall to serve students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. The Fairmount building has been home to various programs during the past 30 years and we’re excited to open our doors to elementary students once again! Fairmount is the sister school to North Albany Elementary School located on Thornton Lake Drive.
Our school is proud to offer:
- Library Program — Provides weekly instruction to students on reading, literature, and library skills.
- PE Program — Offers weekly instruction from the certified specialist with the goals of: 1) developing student’s physical skills, and 2) reinforcing positive attitudes toward exercise.
- Music Program — Provides weekly music instruction for all students.
- Thornton’s Swamp Skills — Teaches students skills to independently resolve conflicts.
- Mileage Club — Each spring, students are rewarded for walking/running at lunch recess.
Parents are our partners
- Site Council (Joint Council with North Albany Elementary (NAE)) — Parents work with staff to provide leadership and goal setting for the school staff.
- Parent-Teacher Partnership (Joint Partnership with NAE) — Parents work together to plan and fund activities for families and students. The PTP has funded new technology, field trips, assemblies, and classroom projects at NAE for several years.
- Volunteer Program — Fairmount encourages parents to become actively involved in school’s activities.
Our focus for improvement:
- Ensure that students gain a strong foundation in their reading, math and writing skills.
- Ensure that all students participate in character education activities and demonstrate those traits of that focus on responsibility and respect.
