Unprecedented Achievement
District Motto: "Preparing Kids for a Brighter Future"
Founded in 1979, the Greater Albany Public School District proudly educates the children of Albany and surrounding areas of Linn and Benton counties in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The district spans 154 square miles. It offers education for children of all abilities in 14 elementary schools (grades K-5), three middle schools (grades 6-8), two high schools (grades 9-12) and a variety of alternative programs.

Averaging better than 85 percent with five or more year's experience, and better than 55 percent of middle school and high school teachers with master's degrees. In surveys, more than 85 percent of students and parents report that our teachers work hard to help kids learn. - Safe Schools
Offers strong programs of character education, self-discipline and peer mentoring for children at all grade levels. In surveys, better than 90 percent of students and parents rate schools as safe. - Welcoming Schools
Better than 75 percent of students and parents reporting that they are encouraged to take part in activities at school. - Top-Notch Graduates
Earning $1.5 million in scholarships and other academic awards. Our graduates attend the best universities in the region and the world, including Stanford University, Georgia Tech, the U.S. Naval Academy, Washington University, Cornell University, the Rhode Island School of Design and major public and private universities in Oregon. - Academic Accomplishment
Outscoring the national average and showing consistent improvement on both the verbal and math portions on the SAT. - Satisfied Customers
Better than 80 percent rating their schools as either excellent or pretty good. - Better Textbooks
Investing more than $2 million over seven years to put new textbooks in the hands of every student. - Better Food Service
Serving more meals with more options in updated cafeterias, and raising customer satisfaction ratings at the same time. - Extensive Career Preparation
Each high school student develops and maintains an educational plan that links courses and extracurricular activities to long-term goals. Interest inventories, skills tests, and participation in such real-world activities as job fairs help students tailor their education to their needs. - Real-World Learning Experiences
More than 90 local employers offering more than 1,100 off-campus educational opportunities for students. Participating organizations include a hospital, electrical contractor, accounting firm, computer manufacturer, veterinarian and a radio station. - Positive State Ratings
One elementary school earning an "exceptional" rating from the state, and eight earning "strong" ratings. All other schools earned "satisfactory" ratings. - Community Involvement
Students, parents and staff members provide thousands of dollars worth of food, clothing and donated services to local charities and needy families each year.
