ADOPT-A-FAMILY "OPERATION: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!"

Each year, Central School provides Christmas help for selected families in the West Albany area.  This year we will be adopting two families and providing them necessities and gifts to warm their Christmas season.  You will be encouraged to donate through your child’s class!  An informational flyer created by the Parent Club was sent home last week with your child; if you need more information please call the school office.  Specified classes have been assigned to each family (details listed in flyer).  Please bring items to your classroom between Nov. 26th and Dec. 7th.

WISHING FOR SNOW?

When the decision has been made to close school or delay the start, we rely on local radio and television stations for notification to staff. Closure and delayed start information will ordinarily be broadcast by 6:30 a.m. Closure information will also be posted on the district web site at www.albany.k12.or.us.  Radio:  KFIR 720 AM, KGAL 1580, KRKT 99.9.  Television: KEZI 9, KVAL 13.

SCHOOL CLOSURE, EMERGENCY INFORMATION NETWORK

The school district now subscribes to “FlashAlert” which takes the same emergency information relayed to television, radio, and newspaper, and emails that information to interested persons.  As parents you may wish to enroll in this program.  There is no cost to the families and “FlashAlert” promises not to give out email addresses to other organizations. Parents wishing to enroll in the email message service need to enroll directly with “FlashAlert”.  Simply go to “www.flashalert.net” and click on “subscribe”.  You may then go to the web site and click on “view news” to read announcements posted on the site.

Some people see things as they are and say, “Why?” I dream of things that never were and say “why not?”
