Central Elementary School again received a "strong" overall performance rating from the state and met the rigorous standards for annual yearly progress. In 2006, over 90% of Central's 3rd and 5th grade students met or exceeded the benchmark in reading, mathematics and science (5th grade). 100% of 3rd grade students met or exceeded the benchmark in math.
Specialized Mathematics Instruction
Provides instruction to small groups of fifth grade pupils in Oregon's math "strands": algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics and calculations.
Specialized Art and Music Instruction
Central has a tradition of emphasizing the arts. Students receive weekly art instruction for grades 1-5 that focuses on the "elements of design" and introduction to various art media. Our music program provides instruction to all students twice a week. Students receive general exposure to styles of music and introduction to various instruments including keyboards, guitars, and xylophones.
